Just checked out my area of Atlantic County, the winds are predicted to be 50mph for about 4 hours, if everything stays on the present tract.

My sister who live in OC,NJ right on the bay,says she thinks they will be lucky to receive less that 1M in damages on their property.

People have NO idea the hit that NJ is gonna take...that's because the storm is just offshore..parallelling the coast for about 100 miles...it's flat...at best a few feet above sea level...lots of little beach towns....the BIG waves will be coming ashore for hours...the beaches, dunes, and most everything within 1/4 mile of the coast line will be toast...the question is will they allow them to rebuild after..that's gonna be interesting....

Question: Anyone ever seen any engineering studies to determine how stong a wind the Wasgington Monument can take?
