If you eat off of paper plates, don't forget to buy erasers so you can re-use them ;-) ROFLMSS!!!!! Good one.
Cheers back at ya! And keep the prayers coming for all.

I did read something re the failure risk to all the subway controls if the tunnels get flooded w/salt water.
But I guess if the subway system shuts itself down from corrosion in the control devices, there won't be anyone in the windowless skyscrapers to get hurt ?
Not minimizing it by any means, just hoping people aren't spending all their ammo money on 'epic storm' supplies.
Oh wait, NYers don't need ammo money, right ?

I think it’s more likely than not that JFK airport is essentially destroyed.
That’s non-trivial even if nothing else happens.

Wondering about the Freeper who had friends who were going to fly into NYC on Saturday . . . Are their plans canceled now if for nothing else but the airports closing?
To: DollyCali
Hmmm...Looks like scar tissue. Perhaps distant reconstructive surgery. Maybe from an old injury or deformity. I wonder whether she was ever in a serious auto accident. Where is that FReeper that went to school with her or something?
Beverly Eaves "Bev" Perdue--interesting note--Perdue is her married name from her first marriage. She uses her current husband's surname as her middle name. Those silly Democrats do the wackiest things!

Stay safe, y’all. I’m visiting in Jacksonville - we got all of 1/4 inch of rain out of this as it passed to the north. Could be a real mess up in the NE.

I realize how rain soaked yall have been up there this month. But here in eastern VA and north east NC there has been very little rain all summer. Theres a huge swamp wildfire burning on the VA/NC border that they estimate will take a minimum of 6 inches of rain to get under control, let alone put it out. That thing is STILL burning? Damn. Smoke from that floated up here earlier this month so bad that local authorities put out a media release about the fire and issued a health advisory for Code Red air pollution.

The latest hour’s Delaware River flood models show Moderate Level Flood, almost Major Flood. Got the automated call that says a bunch of my neighbors are under mandatory evac orders.
However looks to me like Irene is making a turn to a direct run for the Grand Banks and this may be it’s closest approach to the east coast except for eastern Newfoundland.
