I am SIMPLY saying this: Independent voters are NATURALLY attracted to where the action is. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to deduce that in 2012 most independent voters will be gravitating to the GOP primaries as BHO already has the Dem nomination in his pocket.
Since independent voters are more moderate than rank and file GOP primary voters, it stands to reason that Romney might benefit with a large number of independents voting in the GOP primaries.

I understand your point, and it is well-taken. And I’m sure Romney was counting on it. But, events are just not working out like the party manipulators anticipated at all, mainly because Palin is just not playing along. Your posts themselves assum she is in, even though she has not announced formally. She resigned as Governor to start her campaign, without permission from Rove. She calls the party bosses the “bluebloods” and “high muckety-mucks”. She won’t give Karl a job. And when they spread lies. she calls them on it. And she may not announe until November, when Reagan did. Or not.
But, one thing it is time to recognize is this. We shouldn’t waste our time discussing Romney. Events have already made Romney’s campaign toast.
