Karl Rove To Sarah Palin: Get A "Thicker Skin"
Real Clear Politics ^

Posted on 08/25/2011 9:01:23 AM PDT by indianrightwinger

Karl Rove responds to controversy over his speculation if Fmr. Gov. Sarah Palin will indeed enter the GOP field. Rove said chances are she will jump in, but was not definitive in his observation.

"I'm mystified," Rove said about reaction to his speculation. "Look, she is all upset about this saying how I am trying to sabatouge her in some way. How do I speculate on her future."

"Look, if she doesn't want to be speculated about a potential presidential candidate there is an easy way to end the speculation. Simply say 'I'm not running.' Instead, every time she pops up in the public eye like she did on CNN, at the Iowa State fair a short number of days ago. she said 'I haven't made a decision.'"

"I'm just speculating that more likely than not she is going to be a candidate."

"Now I said 'I wouldn't bet a lot of money on it' because it is such a close thing and I am not privy to her thought-making process. But it is sign of enormous thin-skin that if we speculate about her, she gets upset. And I suspect if we didn't speculate about her, she would be upset and getting ways to get us to speculate about her."

IF they beat her in office as governor, what the heck do you think they will do to her as POTUS?

They won’t quit. It will be a distraction when we don’t need one.

She enacted the law that ultimately forced her to leave office.

That isn’t a resume-enhancer for any candidate.

You do not understand what PUBLISHED polls are all about at this stage of the cycle.

They are intended to drag votes to the candidate that they set up in front.

The real polls never get published but they definitely guide the buyer with truthful information.

Anyway, they’ll be happy to read your comment; it means that their money was well spent.

Palin already has the south, including Texas.

She’ll easily have the midwest too.

Her work will be the west and northeast. Look for her VP to be from one of those states.

If Romney or Perry really had any support, you wouldn’t be seeing those polls.

You assume more than you should about me. I’m not stupid. I also don’t spend all my time on conservative only political forums. THe fact is a whole lot of people really don’t like Palin. They are suffering from Palin fatigue. They want someone who will beat 0bama and get the economy back on track.

She will get the same treatment as POTUS she got after the 2008 campaign. We as a nation can’t afford that distraction. This is a vital election.

No, she merely called out the fact that he was mistaken. (he just about always is anymore)

I was born and bred among rural committed conservative Republicans. In case you haven't noticed, when the Republican party chooses a moderate candidate based the fear independents might not like the mean ol' "too conservative" choice, liberalism wins. McCain. Dole. Here in California, Schwarzenegger (we won, but we lost) and more recently, Meg Whitman. Your "conventional wisdom" of needing someone "not so polarizing" has been proven again and again to be stupidity. The strongest evidence: REAGAN, who by your reasoning, should have lost in a landslide. How'd that work out?

I know it will offend you when I point this out, but you're deceiving yourself. You wholly ignore the facts of the situation -- that the "heat" that Palin sidestepped was FINANCIAL, not political. It could be argued that BECAUSE she was so asbestos-like with regard to true political heat, the left had to resort to below-the-belt tactics of an attack of frivolous lawsuits for the sole purpose of either driving her to personal bankruptcy and paralyzing her adminstration as well, or driving her out of office. That is the reality -- political "heat" was failing, so they had to resort to trying to destroy her financially with bogus lawsuits, all of which were dismissed. You can call that "politics" if you want, but you're only fooling yourself.

You are wearing blinders -- or, in your own words back at you -- "You're deluded, or maybe even irrational."

With Perry actually in the race, the south is not a sure bet for her. Texas is a whole lot bigger than Alaska, he’s been on the job during the economic downturn and his state has fared well under his governing.

Blah blah blah. That was a nonresponse if ever I saw one. MS Windows, right now, has an expoitable bug. Do you know where it is? Can you exploit it? I didn’t think so. Hindsight is always 20/20.

Looks like my assumption about you was right on the mark.

Palin is the only candidate that even has a desire to do what it takes to get the country on track. The GOP elitists and good ol boys like the status quo; they proved that with the debt ceiling debate.

Yes, Palin will get the same treatment that Reagan and Bush got, but she is far more resiliant than either of them, and knows how to dodge the flow.

The country has PDS fatigue, and will jump at the chance to have a real problem solver in the OO. The 20% that really don’t like Palin aren’t going to vote for any Republican anyway.

Murdoch is paying Rasmussen to do whatever it takes to break Palin’s magic.

Others are paying their mouthpieces to do the same.

Courtesy of another Freeper, sorry I didn’t save the name:

Mrs. Palin is remaining quiet....she is waiting....she knows her battle plan....she knows her timing.....she is learning....studying the opposition....guarding the “cubs”....waiting quietly with an occasional “roar” (like the comments at the Iowa State Fair).....reconnoitering the challengers from within and the enemY from without.....studying weaknesses....building and conserving her strength....endlessly practicing....reading...honing her skills.....waiting.....waiting.....
This war has not yet begun. What has been seen of the other candidates to date has been nothing but minor and irrelevant skirmishing. Candidates in...candidates out....candidates winning....candidates losing.....candidates saying silly things.....candidates saying cogent, insightful things....
It is a very very long way to next November. There is no need to rush. In her mind’s eye, Mrs. Palin smiles knowingly and remembers the words of Napolean, “Never interupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.” and General Patton, “Our basic plan of operation is to advance and to keep on advancing regardless of whether we have to go over, under, or through the enemy. We are going to go through him like crap through a goose; like shit through a tin horn!”
When she arrives, you can count on total war. She has learned how to fight. She does not spin; she does not back away from principles; she means exactly what she says...and says exactly what she means. She builds a base of support because of who and what she is....not because of who or what she panders to.
Patience.....patience....
Wait for it!
And keep the faith....

Gee, you GOT me! Palin didn't throw former Alaskan State Representative Tom Anderson (R) in prison for five years on corruption charges -- I guess it was the FBI that did it.

Yeeesh.

And Palin didn't make Rep. Vic Kohring (R, Wasilla) resign his house seat, and have former Republican Representatives Pete Kott and Bruce Weyhrauch charged as well with bribery and extortion related to the oilfield services company Veco Corp.

Palin's stance to fight corruption in 2006-07 had nothing to do with it -- no political heat THERE! Nope. It was the FBI, not Palin, that did the dirty work and took the political heat!

Happy now?
