Agreed. As much as it pains me to say this, between the two sides, Kadaffy is the better one. He did keep his Wahabist Islamist in check/ Also, despite my opposition to socialism and planned economies, at least he managed to raise the standard of living for many Libyans by building them houses with electricity, running water and A/C. If this was 1986, yeah, I'd say, "go get him," but with the exception of a few peeps, he was behaving and as long as he did, we should have left him alone. I learned long ago, not to toss rocks at hornet's nests and that is what NATO and Obama is doing.

Someone made the point that Kadaffy could have a nuke planted in Tripoli to defeat the rebels when they get inside the city. I don't know, but if I was Kadaffy, I'd either have a nuke, dirty nuke or some chemical gas trap ready to go while I'd cover my escape and resort to assymetrical warfare. Don't forget, Kadaffy used assymetrical warfare in the 1960's, he will do so again.

I’d have to agree with you. So far, only more radical, anti-Western “governments” have replaced the totalitarians that have been more agreeable to the West. Libya and Syria will be no exception, as long as Islam rules these nations.
