If I might make one humble suggestion. If you have a pocket knife around, sharpen it and carry it with you. They come in handy in a thousand ways.

Yes! Also a hack saw saved my balcony during Hurricane Frances. The solar pool heater (really big black rubberized mats filled with water) tore away from its roof mooring. It was flapping around on the roof and stressing the 2" pvc pipe attached to my balcony support. Sawed the PVC pipe in two, relieving the stress. Don't recall where the solar pool mat finally landed when it blew off the roof.
