Well, I have been keeping up with this thread as Mr. RightField and I are in somewhat of a pickle here. We are in our motorhome right now in the middle of Vermont. We were headed to Bethel, Maine (on the NH) border) tomorrow, but we have almost decided to go back to Utica NY to wait it out.

Then, we've been reading that Irene might take a more westward route. We have a full tank of water, lots of food and propane, but which direction to go? I'm hoping that the 8am update tomorrow morning will give us more information.

We have a fairly safe, sheltered placed to ride it out in Utica. Anyone familiar with this Vermont/NY area, please weigh in.

I certainly understand your dilemma. Best suggestion: Absolutely do not plan to stay in your motor home during the storm unless you are more than 300 miles away from this very large system. Tropical storm force winds (35-73 mph)currently extend outward 290 miles from the center of Irene. Tropical storms spawn tornadoes. There has been a lot of rain lately and the ground is saturated. A lot of trees will be toppling in New England. Drive to a brick and mortar location to wait out the storm.

p.s. LOVED renting an RV several times to watch the final shuttle launches. Great fun!
