Well, just received a call from my elderly mother. They are visiting family up on the south shore of LI. They are planning to hunker down for the storm. I offered to pick them up at the airport if they wanted to fly home to Florida. Nope. She just wanted to talk about how everyone was securing their boats. Oh well...
At least she’s with family.
South Shore, eh? (shakes head slowly)
Hey: at what point do you think we should lobby the Admins for a promotion to the Breaking News sidebar for the duration?
The Gulf Stream runs right by Cape Hatteras National Seashore which is warm water....best to get our of harms way asap.
dang... damn... doggone.. and all that rough language
Wow, I hope she won’t mind possibly being without power or water for a week or two! Does she mind if she’s stuck there for a long while?
My elderly parents live on the south shore of Long Island as well. I’ve been trying to get ahold of them to convince them to come up here to VT for the weekend at least (they’re still in decent shape at 78 and 74 and live in the home I grew up in). My bet is that they won’t go.
My sister talked to my dad yesterday and he said he’s “well prepped for the hurricane as he has a fresh stock of bourbon and pipe tobacco.”. Argh.
