the federal government should seal the borders first (I have no idea how that should be done), then work out the details of immigration reform.

I couldn't agree more. I know this is a simple comparison but I'll say it anyway. We need to plug the hole in the boat before we start bailing out the water.

I love living in rural East San Diego County but it does have its drawbacks. Not a week goes by that I don't go out to find my water hose running having been left on by ILLEGALs filling their water jugs. They pick fruit from my trees and steal the eggs from my chicken coop. Hell, they've even stolen the chickens. They have broken into and slept in my garage, workshop, storage shed and barn and they've tried hot wiring my vehicles. A time was when they would run when spotted but that is no more. They have grown bolder and more dangerous. I hate leaving the home empty when I travel or worse, leaving my wife here alone. So I hire someone to house sit my house or we have someone stay with the Mrs.

My congressman is Duncan Hunter. He is a staunch conservative who knows and understand the needs of people like me. What I don't have but need is a president who will take real steps to secure our southern border. And that man is not Mr. Open Borders Rick Perry.

Oh man, that is unimaginable here in rural Virginia. The closest I've had to anything like that was when I briefly lived in a high-crime part of a large city.

What exactly is meant by open borders? I have always assumed it meant unsecured borders, however, from the posts on FR I get the sense that may not be right. Perry says that he's for securing the borders first, so is open borders an immigration policy?
