Back In 2004 after Bush won , I recall Soros and the Lewis Couple ( Progressive Insurance founders) declared they wanted to set up these Shell / phony Media outlets to spread hard left propaganda .

The Texas Tribune is one of these Phony Left Wing Propaganda outlets set up to fight the tea party and Perry's reelection !

You can actually read the TT and comment on their blog and site and Facebook, and frequently remind the other readers of the conflict of interest inherent in their "mission" and their donors.

Most of the NYTimes Perry articles I've read are actually Texas Tribune articles. And on his nightly show, John Batchelor has been relying heavily on Jay Root and several other Texas Tribune contributors to provide background info for the current Perry stories. (I've been aware of the Soros connection from the beginning.)

Up to this point, at least of the stories I've heard and read, they've been surprisingly even-handed. I expect that to change as the stakes get higher, but as of now, they haven't really been unusually unfair.

I’m definitely not a fan of the TX Tribune. They certainly seem to have a class-envy theme going. My first read of their stuff was seeing my name and what I get paid published by way of their site. They also were making a stink over what a physicist (medical) was getting paid by the state. What he was getting was considerably less than a licensed Ph.D med physicist would get in private practice, not even counting that he was also a department head and teaching besides. So either they are stupid, or deliberately stirring the pot.

I grew up learning how to get conservative information despite the best efforts of the NYTimes, Cronkite, Time and Newsweek.

I don't restrict my sources of information to people who agree with me.

I read up on the staff, and who supports the Texas Tribune the first time I read a Perry article written by them. I was fully expecting one hatchet job after another. So far, it's not the case.

As far as Batchelor goes, he is a well connected guy with a very informative show. Larry Kudlow, a frequent guest, was on the show praising Perry for chewing on Bernanke’s ass.

Don't listen to him if you don't want, but just because Batchelor has a Salon reporter on his panel of guests won't suddenly change my well-grounded conservative views.
