The Revolutionary War was not class warfare at all. A lot of intra-class warfare, with families on the same level often pitted against one another. Tories and loyalists each came from all classes. Now in political terms, the main divisions was between property-owners/tax-payers and the untaxed. The Suffrage was based on property as was the privilege to hold office. The difference between America and England was the much wider suffrage in America, especially in New England. Still universal suffrage, nationwide, did not come until the 1840s, a choice made by the states as stipulated in the Constitution.
