The libertarian presidential candidate nearly beat Michele Bachmann in the Iowa straw poll, but the press barely saw fit to mention it
In Saturday's Iowa straw poll, libertarian GOP candidate Ron Paul nearly emerged victorious, coming within less than one percentage point of the winner, Michele Bachmann. Of course, you'd hardly know it given the media's reporting, which focused on Bachmann's rise and Tim Pawlenty's disappointing third-place finish. The Daily Show even devoted a segment to the near press black-out on Monday night, with Jon Stewart asking "How did libertarian Ron Paul become the 13th floor in a hotel?"

the press doesn’t take him seriously.
Paul is overlooked by the media because he does not meet narrative of a slick good looking politician with good or at least amusing sound-bites. And he damn good on many fiscal issues, but he is a bit of a nut.
“Why would anybody take Ron Paul seriously?”
Can you name another candidate that is more serious than Ron Paul on cutting federal spending?
Anyone in their right mind will ignore him from here on out. The longer he stays in, the less likely anyone is ever going to take his son seriously.
I’m getting a hankering for some shrimp.
Not unlike groundhog day, every four years the Paul cult emerges to see if they and their wierd idol can cast a dark shadow.
They ignore Lyndon LaRouche too and his groupies get just as annoyed by it.
Because he is a international politics moron and a historical buffoon.
Other than that, he would have got my vote a long time ago.
No. Can you name another candidate that is more serious than Ron Paul on letting Iran build nukes?
The one time that Israel wanted to take out Iran’s nuke capability, they were denied fly over rights over Iraq by the US and that was four or five years ago. The US has not and will not have the will to take out those nukes.
He's all for cutting federal spending unless it involves his district.
Some of the very important Federal spending needed according to Dr Paul.
Here is a list of some of the pork that Paul has applied for. 1. $25,000 for the Brazoria County Sheriff to establish a Childrens Identification and Location Database. 2. $8 million for the marketing of wild American shrimp. 3. $2.3 million for shrimp fishing research. 4. $3 million to secure the acquisition of the McGinnes tract, protecting its critical natural resources and helping consolidate refuge inholdings. 5. $5 million to expand the cancer center at Brazosport Hospital. 6. $200,000 for the Matagorda Episcopal Health Outreach Program to fund a National Health Service Corp Scholar. 7. $4.5 million to study the effects of the health risks of vanadium. 8. $3 million to test imported shrimp for antibiotics. (Does anyone think there is a big shrimp industry in Pauls district?) 9. $10 million to repair the Galveston railways causeway bridge. 10. $1.18 million for Personalized Medicine in Asthma 11. $100,000 for a data-driven automated system for nursing students on the Texas Gulf Coast. 12. $257,000 to prepare graduates from the doctoral program at the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Nursing to assume faculty roles in schools for nursing with a deficient number of doctoral level faculty. 13. $1.4 million to buy buses for the Golden Crescent Regional Commission. 14. $2 million to buy buses for Galveston. 15. $5 million for highway spending. 16. $2 million to replace facilities for Galveston bus service. 17. $3 million to replace facilities for the Golden Crescent Regional bus facility. 18. $2 million to repair the Galveston trolley. 19. $2.14 million to renovate the Edna Theater. 20. $13 million for I-69 highway project. 21. $30 million the Texas Maritime Academy to refurbish a ship. 22. $4.5 million to maintain Cedar Bayou. Plus another $9 million 23. $15 million for construction at GIWW Matagorda Bay. Plus another $5.8 million 24. $100,000 to maintain Chocolate Bayou. 25. $2.5 million to maintain Double Bayou.
Why does the media ignore Ron Paul? Let me count the ways..
He is too old to be elected as president?
He is a libertarian running as a republican?
His Trutherism is kookie?
He thinks Iran shoud be allowed to have nukes?
I could go on, but it is late. In all fairness, I do agree with some of his fiscal opinions.
It could be the fact that he’s a complete nut
I am absolutely no fan of Ron Paul, but one would think he should receive more coverage. However, “news entertainment” across the board is crap.
The msm wants Perry or Romney to win.
Ron Paul is their last choice.
Ron Paul wants to abolish the Federal Reserve, and he’s serious about it.
The Globalists are 100% in favor of the Federal Reserve.
Perry is the NWO candidate, and Paul challenges that.
This is how the media controls our electoral process. They select our candidates for us by giving the ones they want nominated the most coverage. Then they use positive or negative coverage on the final nominees to sway voters in the direction they want.
In the last election the media singled out the weakest candidate (McCain) and gave him the most coverage until he was nominated, then they picked the guy they wanted to win and gave him more positive coverage then the opponent.
Right now, the weakest candidate and least likely to be able to put up a real fight against Obama is Romney and guess who is getting the most media attention?
The media knows that Romney care and his ecomnomic record in Massachusetts will make it hard for conservatives to rally support because the guy is just another Obama with an R next to his name.
We need a strong candidate that will force media attention.
Curious, why do you say that?
The media makes most of our choices for us.
