Satellite is starting to look better and better.

Satellite internet blows great steaming chunks, I connect with one. Latency with all of the error correction and lightspeed delay is on the order of 1.5 seconds. That is the transit time for a ping to the gateway. Light rain takes it out completely, and if you get lightning there is a whole nother story to tell...

FIOS sounds pretty good to me. I can hardly wait.

Not to mention a 17GB rolling average bandwidth cap. That turns into about an hour of video per day, not optimal. Downloading an ISO (bootable CD image) eats more than a day’s allocation. Usually you can get enough speed to support video, except early in the evening when everybody is on. Sharing your internet connection with everybody else who only has satellite is very sub-optimal.
