August 16 Wisconsin recall election results from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel

44EAGLE RIVER, Wis (Reuters) - Voters in two Wisconsin State Senate districts head to the polls on Tuesday in the last of nine recall elections triggered by the fight earlier this year over Republican-backed curbs on the union rights of public workers.

In Tuesday's two final special elections, Jim Holperin and Robert Wirch -- two Democrats who opposed the anti-union measure and even fled the state for weeks in an unsuccessful effort to prevent its passage -- are defending their seats.

Holperin seems to be in the tighter race. His rival is Kim Simac, founder of the Northwoods Patriots, a Tea Party group. Though Simac is a political novice, the district has leaned Republican in the three years since Holperin was elected.

No matter who wins, Republican Governor Scott Walker and his Republican allies will retain control of the legislature, where the battle over public workers' union powers was waged earlier this year with public protests, legislative maneuvering and court challenges.

With seven of the nine recalls over, Republicans have managed to keep control of the state senate -- 17 to 16 if they score no wins on Tuesday -- because Democrats failed to unseat three Republican state Senators in the key round of six GOP senate recalls last week.

They appear to have called it for Wirch in the 22nd.

RESULTS as of Tuesday, Aug 16, 2011 at 09:28 pm CDT
Election Home
Senate Dist. 22 Recall REPORTING 78%
Bob Wirch (D) (inc) 18,676
55%
Jonathan Steitz (R) 15,013
45%

THere is a big, red check mark next to Wirch’s name! :(

I have no clue. People amaze me sometimes.

Sounds like they were able to smear Simac too.

Yes, but as you have said, he “should have known better”. That he didn’t alone makes him a bad candidate. Arrogance and laziness are not traits that just pop up once, if he did it here how can you know that he wouldn’t have done it again later? Maybe he learns his lesson and next time he can do better.

I don’t understand people. Do they have a deathwish? WHO in the world would vote for their own destruction? Knowingly.

The AP was lightning quick to call that one....as opposed to last week when they would painfully slow call the races for the Repubs.

Four Dem state reps ran in recalls. No GOP reps made ballot (Nygren ran but was too incompetent to get signatures.)

Yep, at least 75% of the vote in I’d guess. That one’s over. I think Simac is done too but there’s a couple of big counties still to report.

"City of Kenosha,"

Every State has their Rat Holes. Never heard of the place. Must be a beautiful place to live.

Isn’t that talking about the Hansen recall a several weeks ago? How did Simac blow it? Again, just curious.

It’s like people don’t care as long as they get the govt payments or have their union job. Just cutting their own throats in the end.

This might help shed light…

Simac has been pilloried during the campaign … for not paying her property taxes on time eight of the last nine years. Source

Looks like a big vetting/recruitment problem.

Kenosha was formerly the home of American Motors, later bought out by Chrysler. An automotive plant has operated there continuously until just the last 2 years (Obama motors closed the last assembly plant). I’m quite certain that there are a huge number of Union workders still living there.

One thing about it MM, these races are under the old districts. The new districts will be more favorable. Wisconsin needs a fleebag proof GOP majority.

It's not just LIKE that, it IS that all across the nation.

OK, I see. Well that is a big disappointment that the GOP was not able to effectively find a solid candidate without issues & skelatons in their closet. This recall election against Holperin should have been a slam dunk.

She was paid up. We sort of have a sliding scale on property taxes here. We can pay them in December (early and eligible for same year IRS deduction) or half in Jan and half in July. Apparently Kim was in the habit of paying 100% in July. One could argue that she was not really late, although I’m sure that she had late fees assessed for the first payment each year.

And, like typical union workers, too effing stupid, and with their heads buried deep in their colons, they fail to understand that it was the very union they so cherish that was largely responsible for their jobs going away.
