US election 2012: Michele Bachmann snubs Rick Perry at Iowa Republican dinner
Michele Bachmann has angered some Republicans in Iowa by snubbing Governor Rick Perry of Texas, her new White House rival, at a party dinner, insisting on her own lighting and entering the hall "like she was Madonna".

And I’m sure Perry was just devastated, too.
Beat up on Bachmann thread ping!
They hate the fact that she decided to be a candidate and is doing as well as she is.
Think I’ll go watch TMZ instead of clicking on the link. This minutiae is getting ridiculous.
I’m willing to consider the possibility that a few individuals within the media are drumming on prepared talking points. The key point being repeated since their “Queen of Rage” cover backfired is that Michele is a diva. Before jumping to any conclusions, I’d like to see genuine evidence. With Obama that was easy - everything he said and did confirmed that he was an inept, hateful racist. With Bachmann, the media theme of the day once again seems unconnected to the reality that we see from her. She’s not my top choice, but I’m not going to rule her out based on something as unreliable as a news article.
Even if Bachmann has such a poor grasp of PR, surely the aides she has hired should have told her to get out of the bus and shake some hands with the Iowa voters. Are they afraid of her? There’s something amiss here.
Who gives a crap? Poor Rick, maybe he can get some tissues from Vincente Fox?
Poor Sarah, big bad old Michele is stealin’ her thunder.
And then you declare Bachmann has no chance.
I don’t think the other two do either. And I am declaring that just like you did.
Bachmann has been on the stage many times a day the past few weeks leading up to this poll and the Thursday debate. She could have been eating or resting or something else, too. I hate all this ‘gotcha’ BS that our GOP candidates have to deal with.
Not sure what the deal is with the lighting change, but I think that has more to do with one of these reasons than some sort of ‘snub’.
Yeah, the media is meddling. If Bachmann was so bad and had bad PR, it must not have been too bad. She won!
First, Bachmann rips Palin for not being a “serious” candidate. And now, Bachmann sits in a bus rather than being seen with Perry. Give me a break. She has no chance of getting the nomination”
AGREED.
Palin went to 2 fund raisers for Bachmann in 2010, & now, Bachmann treats Sarah like a rejected sister-in-law.
Michelle is burning bridges she hasn’t even built yet.
She will NOT get the nomination.
IF the GOP is dumb enough to nominate her, she will NOT get my vote.
I don’t know who I will vote for, but I am building a strong list of who I will NOT VOTE FOR.
Bachmann & Romney are already there, & Ron Paul is about to be there, also. Paul seems too naive about the global threats we face to be sitting inside the Oval Office.
Good for Michele!
Perry's a RINO! HE is the one with NO CHANCE of getting elected!
Perry's going to peel off a rubber mask, and you'll see George Bush grinning back at you.
You know: The same George Bush who
(1) REFUSED to enforce U.S. immigration laws in VIOLATION of his oath of office to uphold U.S. law!(2) INCREASED entitlements!
(3) SPENT more of the working man and woman's hard earned money than any President since (fellow Texan!) Lyndon Johnson!
Good for Bachmann.
No one here beats up on Bachmann. In some ways, she is her own worst enemy. Why would we want to voluntarily be subjected to a candidate’s PMS or pouting like a 14 year old?
On the other hand the Lady is very conservative and stands by her principles and would make a darn great Senator from Minnesota.
She didn’t have a chance before she acted this way, but these reports make me feel better about it.
Oh, the horror!!!
I had the TV on on Saturday. My husband was in another room and swore he heard GWB.
I said “wrong, but you’re close”. LOL
I can’t imagine any US paper giving so much attention to a British election. Why are they so obsessed with our culture?
I never heard anything about Bachmann ripping Palin for not being a serious candidate? Are you sure, or did you ‘hear it somewhere?’
And this is overblown about her snubbing Perry. She probably didn’t toast him or light his cigarette but snub?
I like them both, but Perry is by far the best of the two as a presidential candidate.
A Texas accent is a plus in my book.
