The children have zombie eyes. Fetal alcohol effect, or just the blankness produced by a life of nothing but television-watching?
I'm no diagnostician, but I don't see obvious Fetal Alcohol Syndrome: flat midface, underdeveloped jaw, etc. I could be wrong. I think these may be angry/depressed faces: "I think there's supposed to be more, but I've no clue what it is."
