Hmmm, interesting.

“One state legislative staffer said this in a conversation about Gov Palin. He did not think she was electable because she had certain verbal mannerisms and kind of public face that lent itself to being twisted into a hostile caricature.”
________________________________________________

Let me guess, this staffer is “anonymous?”

So, her verbal mannerisms will make her unelectable? Would these be similar to the verbal mannerisms of the idiot currently occupying the Oval Office? “Ah....let me clear....aaaaannnnddd....aahhh....” This is the same idiot who needs a teleprompter to speak to kids in a classroom. Please!

Sorry, but the Left always tell us who they fear by who they attack. Have you seen them go after Romney? Have you seen them go after Pawlenty? Have you seen them go After Cain? Have you seen them go after Newt? Now, have you seen them go after Palin? YES and Heck YES!

I could give a rats arse if Palin connects with the GOP elite in DC. The important thing is that she's connecting (in large part) with the American people. And this scars the crap out of the Left and the GOP establishment. There will be NO stopping Palin. She's the antithesis of Obama and the establishment types.

This individual is a personal acquaintance so no I am not naming names.

The conversation occurred before the debt ceiling meltown buthis analysis of some significant trends on the way to Nov 2012 seem on target.

First for some analysis of how the electorate stacks up. Each major party can count on having about 40 per cent of the vote. The donkey coalition is easier to break down than the GOP. It has three or four major elements. These are white liberals who are liberals first and everything else second and will ignore their economic losses and vote donkey because ideology is stronger even than basic material interests. Next are trade unionists. There is some overlap with group one as this segment now is heavily populated with teachers, educrats, and other white collar municipal and state paper shufflers. This part of the group has a strong reason to vote donkey because they know the rats will protect their gravy train to dome degree. Industrial unionists are like the first group they will vote donkey in spite of the evidence before their eyes of the economic ruin caused by BO & Co. Because their leaders tell them to and a majority of these people honestly believe that their union is the only thing keeping them from the breadline. Next are the blacks who are disproportionately dependent on welfare or disguised welfare or if middle class overwhelmingly public employees of some sort federal, state, municipal or local or quasi public non profits. Finally the Hispanics are emerging as a group with a profile similar to blacks although there are more defectors from the plantation with this group.

The GOP coalition is less clearly segmented. Heavily dependent on middle and non union working class white men the elephant party is supported by non liberal professionals, small business owners, and entrances. The once firm alliance of the white middle lass and the financial and industrial leadership that was the basis of the GOP for decades is no more. The financial, industrial and investing elite is today likely to work to manipulate both parties or support the donkeys.

So the fight will be waged or the 20 per cent or o who don't ave much party identification. These people are ridiculously presented by the media as the ‘thoughtful intelligent independents’. In reality these are people who are shallow and unserious and form opinions in a few minutes based on trivia or media image mongering.

The jackass party knows if it is going to win in 2012 it will be a lose win such as 1948, 1960 , or 2000. Their strategy is two fold. One prong is to drive all the usual sheep into the fold. Huge amounts of money and ‘volunteer’ hours are going to be spent to keep the black and union vote from dropping from 2008 levels while the liberals will be worked into a big enough lather over the horrors ‘homophobic, xenophobic, racist, anti pro-choice Tea Party fascist Republicans’ would perpetrate not to mention being mean to the polar bears if they win that they won't notice the state of their 401k accounts. The other prong of this campaign will be geared at the shallow ‘independent’ voters. This ill be done with a relentless barrage of sound bite ads and media complicity presenting a simple minded distorted caricature of the Republicans and their candidate.

It is pretty clear what the donkey narrative is going to be. The evil Tea Party is bullying the weak GOP leadership and are responsible for the ‘Tea Party downgrade and anything else negative with the economy. So the near depression is not BO’s responsibility. It is the Tea Party Republicans that are causing the economy to go off the cliff because they are (big scary word now) EXTREMISTS and not willing to ‘compromise’ (very very good word). The goal is to reassure the faithful and attract the weak minded to vote against the fake anti-concept of ‘extremism’.

Now this is where a Palin candidacy comes into play. If the donkey image manipulators can pull it off Sarah Palin will become the visual representation of ‘Tea Party Extremism’.

Before I discuss this point I want to address the theory that merely by announcing her candidacy and appearing before the country Governor Palin will be carried forward by a wave of public acclaim first to the Republican presidential nomination and then to the White House. The intensity of the Governor's partisans blinds them to the fact she is not the choice of a majority of Americans or possibly even a majority of GOPers. Her partisans come from the great white middle class base of the party. Their intensity comes both from genuine identification with her as one of them and a real fury at the complete unwillingness of the political class to act in ways that to them put the country before self dealing. The political class dismisses this passion as petty nonsense as they see the it to be just certain middle class persons wanting their interests served and masking that desire behind a lot of self righteous and self serving Elk's Club politics rhetoric. Palin partisans may represent 20 to 30 per cent of the voters. The passion of these people can win the nomination for the Governor but it will not be by acclamation.

The donkey party will devote lots of money and effort o portraying Sarah Palin as the face of ‘Tea Party Extremism’. A candidate Palin is going to be relentlessly smeared and presented as an evil fool by the rats and their media allies. That is why it is important that she cut out the ‘just folks’ act in public and sound more like the focused knowledgeable figure she does behind the podium. Unfortunately the stiff, rigid , presentation that BO gives is closer to what perhaps a majority of voters see as ‘presidential’ rather than a friendly open ‘just folks’ persona.

Finally the bottom line is that after the last few weeks it is lesr that anyone other than BO is preferable. I don't think four more years of BO will destroy the nation but I do fear it will do such deep damage and institutional change that will be almost impossible to undo. At this point I would vote for Huntsman to get rid of BO and his dysfunctional cadre. My strong preference may be Palin but the bottom line is getting rid of BO is the thing that trumps everything else.
