This really ticks me off. I think Carney should go take a job making $20 an hour and then get fired/laid off. File and wait for the unemployment insurance (few have 6 months of savings) Worry for a few weeks waiting HOW YOU ARE GOING TO EAT much less pay bills. Then when you get the unemployment insurance money and worry how you are going to live off of it. Collect for about three months (still not able to gain employment) and just when you think you are caught up and going to be okay your former boss lies and files a gross misconduct. You loose the insurance AND have to pay it back. (States are broke so the judge sides with the employer's claims-new laws allow the employer TEN years to file gross misconduct)

From what I see, hear and live the above is commonplace more often than not.

So how does this create a million jobs? Carney/Obama's theory seems to think people are rich when they get unemployment insurance and they will go spend and shop creating jobs? On UI you go to the grocery store and pay basic bills, barely. You don't go out and buy extravagant things or eat out. They are all on crack

I seriously doubt that people getting unemployment benefits are spending more than they did before, whereas a worker getting taxed less is going to spend more.

Unemployment dollars are pulled out of the economy thru taxes, or borrowed, and then the person getting them spends them. Net zero or increases the “credit card balance” for the US.

We have an economy that is based on CONSUMPTION, not PRODUCTION. Until you create productive, good paying jobs, no matter how many people you give a check to you aren't producing anything other than a socialist economy.
