An air strike by NATO-led forces in Afghanistan killed Taliban fighters, including a local leader, who were responsible for a weekend helicopter crash that killed 38 troops, the worst single incident in 10 years of war.
"We dealt with them in a kinetic strike," General John Allen, the commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, told reporters at the Pentagon.
Gen. Allen said the military tracked the Taliban fighters for several days after the helicopter went down. Forces reportedly trailed the fighters to a position in Chak District, Wardak Province, and then US F-16s struck and killed them Tuesday.
"The strike killed Taliban leader Mullah Mohibullah and the insurgent who fired the shot associated with the Aug. 6 downing of the CH-47 helicopter, which resulted in the deaths of 38 Afghan and coalition service members," the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force said in a statement.

“The left likes to pretend acts of war are actually civil crimes requiring dispensation of justice.”
On the other hand, when some little old stateside lady gets her skull caved in with a hammer after being raped and robbed by some two-legged predator, then it’s “DON’T EXECUTE HIM!!!”/sarcasm
Leftists are insane. That’s all you need to remember;)
Thank you for saying what I’ve been thinking.
All very good questions. I still want to know what happened to our Rangers. Are they dead or alive?
Well for whatever reason your one year Bible reading missed that He did not die for the world per say...he said to come out from it's trappings....but he died for those who would accept the life He offered for them...and it's a personal decision....the world opposes the things of God just as we see in Afghanistan and other ME nation peoples. ...and now even those of our own country are openly in rebellion against the things of God.
He died for those who would seek Him and turn to him.....Jesus called the Religious leaders of his day...White washed hypocrites....vipers...who worshipped the father of lies...satan...and kept people from coming to Him. But HE did identify his enemies....Same could be said of many of the Muslim teachers AND thier followers. Many of which have 'made their choice 'to openly oppose God and follow their leaders.
IMO God has opened a door to the Muslim countries...to bring them 'OUT'.......a small window open which has costs thousands of lives of our good men and woman. Most will not come out having determined they will remain Muslim and follow ISlamic LAw...to their own demise. The few who do are generally under strong Christians able to help them overcome Islamic teachings...it's generally a long affair before they come to Christ.
That window will soon close....whoever is left likely are doomed one way or another...but if there were to be any left...he will bring them out as well.
Our military is there to protect those in the field until the job is done....once accomplished they will again return to their wars and unrest...and at best the Un will contain it to keep the wars inside their borders and amongst one another.
Nobody's disputing Gods call on mens hearts...but we are also called to discern the times and the peoples who He seeks. Not every one will come...not everyone wants to...and the Muslims who have come need to remember our troops have also died for them..... They decide.
So sad that there is no possible way I can believe anything this current government administration/military says. The military spokesperson’s are tainted IMO due the basis of their leadership such as it is on Pennsylvania Ave.
Come on Nov. 2012! I have some important votes to cast.
Boy isn't that the truth! But it's keeping the war 'over there' that makes it possible for people here to continue to live life as they do. For that we are indeed grateful.
However there comes a time when the war there must cease...now would be good.
BINGO!!
Hell....DOUBLE BINGO!!!
Something about this stinks to high heaven. Yes....it's been years and years and years and years and years since I was in the military. But I did hold command (CO and Battalion).
It troubles me that these extraordinary and extremely valuable assets were placed into one conveyance - and an airborne one at that. I don't know the full story tho...hell, I don't know half the story. In truth, I don't know ANY of the story (I completely discount anything I read or see in the msm or fox), but still....something is "fishy in denmark" if you get my drift.
The Bible that I am reading has not 'missed' anything (pretty cheap shot, I'd say), and theological arguments notwithstanding, my point remains the same. God loves us and sent His Son to die for us. (And not just Americans).
I'm not sure that your use of the word 'discernment' to dismiss arguments other than your own is valid either, but you know as well as I do that ALL of us fall short of the Glory of God, and that NONE of us deserve being saved. And those of us with finite minds do not have the right to wipe people out because we don't believe they are deserving of life because of the country they were born into.
Well, that ties things up rather nicely..
No Shiite.
We killed him in a kinetic action?
Okay neuter boy. You ain’t no soldier. You are PR weapon with no purpose.
It’s not our military’s mission to save souls. Leave it to the missionaries.
“Are you refuting my statement that the Afghan people need to know of Gods love for them, or are you just trying to be cute?”
I’m refuting you being an adult and not some naive childish idiot that thinks the world will embrace your views against their religion. Go ahead, run over there with a shipping container of Bibles, and do be sure to send a postcard from the shipping terminal...that’s as far as you will get alive.
Any idiot that thinks they will tell them like it is hasn’t been there to find out they would rather see you dead for blasphemy against Islam. To Islam, Christians are infidels only worthy of death.
Have you been living under a rock all these years or are you only 12 years old and not capable of knowing any better?
I didn't say it was. What I object to is the armchair commandos who believe that wiping out an entire country is a cool thing to do, and that, because of the location and circumstances of their birth, entire people groups can be justifiably wiped out.
I'm not even arguing that we should still be in Afghanistan, and am definitely horrified by the ROE in place now.
I just thought that the desire for the wholesale slaughter of large groups of people living with brutality and tyranny should be countered by a little Biblical reality.
This is going absolutely nowhere.
Enough we will disagree about who the United States enemy is...and their agenda to take our freedom and our life if given the chance. I do identify them and so do our troops.
As for the religious comments...better carried over to the religious threads. I am sure we might meet there eventually.
Actually, one of my sons risked being deported because of his Christian worship in one of those countries (the nationals he worshipped with risked being boiled in oil), and one is in a great deal of danger where he is now.
It's obvious that you're not interested in an actual discussion, but you sure have proved that you can toss out meaningless and stupid insults with the best/worst of them.
Good day, CodeTode.
Can you explain this? It doesn't make sense to me (maybe I'm dense).
Are you saying that you and our troops know who the enemy is, and that I don't? Are you saying that we disagree about that?
Because if you are, you couldn't be more wrong.
As for the religious threads, I never go there. I think it's a bad practice to hate other Christians and to assault them with insults because they have a different understanding as to what God's word says. (They'll know we are Christians by our love).
You ain’t too handy with the native language either.
wtf are you trying to say?
War in the Pacific was ended(saving thousands and thousands and thousands of American and Japanese soldiers lives) at Hiroshima/Nagasaki. That was World War II, if you remember.
