Resigning in time to be replaced demonstrates repentence and a willingness to accept consequences. Too often we fall into the, “I’m sorry (I got caught), so it’s OK” mentality.
True. I wish he had. Too late for that now. The leaders of the WI State Senate GOP should have been involved. It would have been perfectly right for them to have showed him the door and informed him that he would no longer be as influential as he was before if he stayed. We need to develop a culture where that is an automatic whenever a leader in the community does that sort of thing. It is best for every party involved.
