Certainly no Half-German, half-Turkish man who chose to lives in the Turkish community in Germany could dream of being named Chancellor of Germany. Indeed, if the child of my friends in Germany whose mother is American would not likely be accepted as a candidate by any of the parties, even though their father is German and they were born there.

Philipp Rösler is Vice Chancellor and head of the FDP.

He was born in Vietnam and adopted by Germans. Culturally I guess he is as German as anyone who lived there 40 years could be, but he's not your typical German.

Roesler is exotic.Nothing “exotic” in the nice sense of the word about Turks. The analogy would be a Jew elected from the south, like the Treasury secretary of the Confederacy. But “Turk” = “black.”
