And your point about courts is exactly right....the murdered drug dealer was entitled to a trial for whatever the coppers had evidence on. They killed him instead, then tried to make out like he had shot at them. Only when the ballistics were done, the alleged bad guy shot was from a po po gun, imagine, that.
