Understand your point....and if the police should be found to have abused their power...it still does not abdicate their responsibility in protecting the lives and properties of the general public at this very moment.

Obviously the police should not go in "guns ablazing"...but...if the mobs when confronted do not desist they should be met with extreme force.

No innocent civilian should have their life or property put in jeopardy to placate a perceived abuse they are not responsible for....

That simple...warn the mobs to stop or face the consequences of their actions....no matter the extremity that form might take...
