Sheesh! Take a pill. I just asked a simple question (I didn't know how it works in the U.S., so it was a legitimate question). You went on to make a lot of unfounded assumptions.

BTW, here in Canada, we have mandated 50 weeks of potential leave. The employment insurance fund pays up to 55% of your income for 50 weeks. Usually, this is maternity leave — but, spouses are also allowed to take a portion of the leave. Of course, this is at the expense of every employer and employee, who pays into the employment insurance fund.

If you're a government worker — or employed by some large unionized corporations, your wages will be topped up to as much as 95% of the normal rate.
