To be fair, Senator John Kerry is 100% right.

If the Tea Party had won, and gotten the government to cut trillions of dollars in spending, we would not have been downgraded.

This is John's way of saying, "Stop me, Tea Party! I'm a serial spender! Stop me before I kill (our credit rating) again!"

agreed. absolutely correct.

Moody’s and S&P, said BEFORE the bill was passed, that there needed to be at least a 4 trillion reduction.

(Coburn’s plan cut 9 trillion, and was ignored.)

i understand all the talking points that we only had 1/3 of the government. i understand we weren’t going to get a BBA passed.
but if the GOP had even held out for the minimum 4 trillion reduction, we could have avoided the downgrade,
and saved our children billions in interest.

but Boehner couldn’t wait to go to plan B, and cave, and give Obama his 2.4 trillion. instead of holding out for at least enough to avoid the credit drop.

and a lot of good conservatives like DeMint, Bachmann, Hunter, etc., DID vote against it.
