Remember that Geithner headed up the NY Fed while Bush was President and no doubt along with Bernanke helped scare Bush into approving the TARP debacle. These people manipulated a naive President and Congress into believing it was a crisis to end all crisis’ to get the money they wanted and bail out their buddies, IMO.

These people manipulated a naive President and Congress into believing it was a crisis to end all crisis’ to get the money they wanted and bail out their buddies, IMO. I think you're exactly right. They had to find a way to cut their losses from the subprime lending disaster that they knew was brewing.
