The Republican establishment, the DNC, and the mainstream media have decided the GOP nominee will be Romney. This alliance has chosen every nominee beginning with Pappy Bush. In the primaries the conservative base will split it’s vote between Cain, Bachmann, and Paul. Romney will get the moderate establishment vote and Democrat crossover vote. Ironically the Dem crossover vote and mainstream media will make the difference. Essentially the crossover vote gives the DNC the power to chose the Republican nominee.

In the general election there is the potential for a third party to fracture the demoralized conservative vote and guarantee an Obama victory. Think 1992 and 1996 . If Romney does win, of course running under the “conservative” label, he will govern as another faux conservative in the George W Bush manner. Four years of Romney will only serve to perpetuate our economic issues and further deteriorate the Republican and conservative brand.

I’m not sure Romney can win the general election, even if there is no third party. The conservative Republican base will not be energized. Obama will get most of the minority vote and the community organizers, armed with big bankrolls, will ensure a huge turnout. Anyone who receives a government check will be told by Obama and the media Romney and the Tea Party are going to take it away. Romney’s years at Bain Capital will come back to haunt him as Obama and the media will scare those midle clas voters who have jobs with talesnof downsizings and offshoring of jobs caused by Romney. Plus he cannot tie advantage of the unpopular Obamacare which should be a big issue in the campaign due to Romneycare in Massachusets.

With Romney as the nominee the statist Marxists win no matter who wins the election. Both Obama and Romney will institutionalize natal health care, giving the federal government life and death power over every citizen. Romney won’t bring fiscal discipline to the government and if he tries at all he will be blamed for every suffering elderly person or minority. Likely he will try to expand the Republican base with an amnesty program for illegals. He will be a one term President setting up the nation for another left wing Democrat or possibly even the “historic” return of Obama. Think of the drama and excitement of a 2016 media circus pitting the failed corporate villain Romney against Obama the underdog comeback kid.

The key to the 2012 Republican primaries are the crossover Dem voters. No doubt Palin and Perry are trying to figure out how they can run against Romney and win with the conservative base vote diluted by the Dem crossover vote and Romney having the moderate and establishment vote locked down. The answer is somehow getting enoug disaffected independents to come out and vote in the Republican primaries to cancel the Dem crossover vote. This is a tall order and will require big money. Any conservative tapping into big money is going to owe big favors which means the price of victory is compromised principles.

By 2016 demographics will be an even bigger obstacle for conservative candidates in the general election. at this point in time it looks like a Romney-Obama contest with the American people losing to tyrannical big government no matter who wins.

After reading your post, I’m feeling rather depressed this morning...not a good way to start the day. God help us...what a mess this country’s in. What an incredibly disgusting mess!

Difference between BHO and Romney being that Romney would go along with a conservative/Republican Congress and Senate (both of which would be subject to strong public pressure from conservative voters) whereas BHO will definitely NOT.

That’s why it’s critical to put more conservatives in the House and win back the Senate. Then I’d take even a Romney over b. hussein obama.
