Baltimore ping.
This morning I was listening to a Baltimore ‘black’ radio station, 1010 WOLB, to a special broadcast of a portion of the convention of the National [Black] Bar Association held in Baltimore recently. It was a forum on how lawyers can help ‘their people.’
Recommendations:
More federal money for schools
Lawyers to stand beside students who are in hearings for expulsions
More attention to the racial ‘disparity’ in suspensions/expulsion/arrests.
One audience participant asked about support for charter and magnet schools. She was told that these cannot be supported because they are an outgrowth of the private school movement that followed Brown v Bd of Ed.
I had to stop listening at this point for health reasons.
