They have stuck together despite enormous pressure. If there is a vote for a BBA included in this and if there is no tax increase I am not that upset nor would I be if it did not pass.
There appears to be a lot of Leftist opposition to it as well so we are in unusual territory. No one seems to like it.
Once I learned that by law the interest on the debt has to be paid first I stopped believing there could be a default and will not urge voting for this.
Maybe these guys are tired of being screamed at.

I don’t think the banks can actually inspect the safety deposit boxes (they don’t have a master key).
However, what was done in 1933 was that government agents or bank employees inspected every safety deposit box whenever these were opened by their owners, and then were authorized to confiscate all gold and gold coins.
Something of the same is very possible in the future.
