"US Economy: The Tea Party Is A Real Threat To America" [Editorial-Guardian Gone Mad!]

US Economy: The Tea Party Is A Real Threat To America Although ultra-conservatives are not in control of the White House and the Senate, they feel they have the political wind at their back

Editorial The Observer, Sunday 31 July 2011

Presidential candidate and ultra-conservative congresswoman Michele Bachmann prays every day for guidance. "The American people are looking for someone who will say, 'No'," she said last week. "I will be that person… I won't raise taxes. I will reduce spending. I won't vote to raise the debt ceiling. And I have the titanium spine to see it through."

Developing her theme, she added that the little people of America, factory workers and housewives, tell her: "'Michele, stand strong. Michele, don't cave.' The American people are scared to death they have lived through the pinnacle of American greatness, that we may be in decline."

The struggle to secure a deal between the Republicans and Democrats to lift the $14.3 trillion cap on the country's national debt is seen by disinterested onlookers as a foolish squabble between self-serving politicians, whose silliness risks potential default on the US's national debt and a first-order financial crisis within the next 48 hours.

If only it were just an ordinary political squabble. The reason the US is so close to economic calamity is that its politicians have existentially different views of the world. As the US faces stagnation and retreat from "the pinnacle of American greatness", these differences have become crucially important. This goes to the heart of how the US can recover its greatness.

Bachmann, with her "titanium spine" and communion with God, is no normal Washington politician. Nor is she alone.

The Honorable Senator Sessions said it best.

The Tea Party did not start this fire, they sounded the Alarm.
Say’s it all.

We bring in about 2 trillion a year and we spend about 4 trillion. We’re spending twice what we make. And the Guardian’s take is that the responsible people are those who want to keep doing it, and the irresponsible are those who want to stop doing it.

How long would that plan last in any enterprise of any kind anywhere else in the world....nation, state, business, institution, church, household, etc.

The Guardian is on drugs is the only sane explanation of a position such as they’ve taken on the debt ceiling.

There is no one who can do that.

Well, what do you expect?

The Guardian is a Labour newspaper, not a Blairite New Labour "We're all Thatcherites now" Labour newspaper, but the sort of Labourite that gets the word Red (in its old meaning) inserted in parentheses between "The" and "Guardian" when a Tory or New Labourite wants to sneer at the paper. The editor has not developed a new insanity: he's just spouting the party line. Limited government??! Perish the thought! America should become a land of rundown council estates, universal surveillance, nationalised health care, and nationalised businesses that run at a loss on state subsidy to ensure the existence of unionised jobs.

(And yes, the British spelling throughout was intentional, even though I'm not British.)

Read some of the comments at the site. There are basically two kinds of responses to the story: Those Europeans who either want to see the U.S. as a fellow socialist country or those that depend on the U.S. spending to prop up the world's economy.

They can all go to hell.

Maybe it is time the Guardian stops sticking its nose in America’s business!

You have communist in Britain that want to be cared for from the cradle to the grave and they are worried about the American Tea Party movement!

Britain needs to remember what happened the last time they tried to take on “tea party” protesters in the 1700’s

Don't push your luck!

No, the real threat to America is Obama and his allies who attempted to turn the U.S. into a Marxist state. And they were well on their way to accomplishing that goal. But thanks to the Tea Party, they failed.

They just don’t understand America. No one wants to do anything about anything unless and until there is a crisis. And some times it takes two in a row, like a financial crisis and getting Obama as POTUS to get people going. But one we start cleaning up the mess we don’t stop until the job is done.

I really did not know, back in 2008, how much and how fast our world would change, with things that used to be politically impossible becoming politically inevitiable. I saw somewhere, I don’t remember where, at a locality that they are intertaining having one of the corporations in the area sponsor a charter highschool - and these were mostly Democrats. I think the smart ones have figured out that the Union/big government model of politics isn’t going to work for them much anymore.

Wow. William Wilberforce must be rolling in his grave at this comparison of prayer to "communion" with a psychic counselor or something. Wilberforce was the prime mover in ending slavery, and did it with prayers, evangelism, and religous-based morality. Similarly our Founders' writing are steeped in religion, references to prayer, and morality based squarely in religion. How low we have gone.

and I;ll say this for the millionth time...the Guardian is the most anti-American rag in the UK.

Their ex-pat editors even tried to make a “civilian arrest” of Dick Cheney. That’s how insane they are.

If they call us “Teabaggers” let’s call them “douchebaggers” because that’s what they basically are.

Sometimes when you see the media saying something profoundly stupid, it’s fun to stop and watch them burn.

Hey! Guardian! Shove it up your bloody arse you miserable excuse of a news paper. Is it true the fish in the fish and chips refuse to be served in the Guardian and the ones that are have hammer and sickle tattoos? You have lost your once great nation to Islam by your embrace of multiculturalism. You would do well to learn Sharia law. You're going to need it. Keep your pointy English nose out of our business. If we want your opinion, we'll call Tehran.

Decided to send an email to the editor but they wanted an address and telephone number for publication. Did not leave the info. Here is a copy of what I wrote:

“Those who live in Islamic glass houses shouldn't throw stones.”

Wonder if they got the meaning? Think one of their Cambridge or Wagon boys could explain it to them? Dumbass limeys.
