Obama’s only hope in 2012 is to split the republican party, and he knows it.
He is currently using every bit of RINO clout he has to assert their power against the tea party.
Obama could care less about the debt ceiling...
He doesn’t care if it’s raised or not.
What he wants is the fight.
It divides our party... and solidifies his re-election.
Solution??? FIRE BOEHNER and McConnel!!!
Get a leader in there that will start using things like impeachment procedures to get things through the senate and signed into law.
Screwing conservatives is what the GOP does best.
By blocking Boehner, the so-called Tea Party has won the battle and lost the war.
I think this is a terrible mistake and it simply hands all power over to the Dems.
It's too bad if it works out this way. TEA had a lot of control when they moved the debate SO significantly our way. There are no new taxes, some cuts, the debate has to come up again, and cuts/reforms in entitlements have to happen or they don't get another raise in debt. ie dems have to choose - cut/reform or no debt max.
But if this goes bad, TEA won't be remembered next nov for moving the debate so well, they'll be remembered for sabotaging a major win and... wait for it.... snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
But it could still work out if we can get CCB debated.
The problem lies in the fact that there are not a sufficient number of tea party types holding elective office.
You're wrong. The House GOP owns this right now. They have looked utterly incompetent by not being able to get a bill passed.
I agree, I think it was good that they moved the debate and didn’t let people off the hook. But at some point, you have to know how to quit when you’re ahead, giving you a win (maybe not everything, but something) and a chance to fight another day. Also, future games would have been played more and more on Tea Party turf.
But I think this current situation is going to result in the Tea Party (well, the name, at least, since there is no “Tea Party” strictly speaking) being marginalized and ultimately having less effect.
This has been my point all along. But I get called names for not being on board with the TEA folks on this vote.
When I make points, i’m name called - no defense of positions - just chest pounding.
Do this right and gain TEA folks.
