They want a BRAC-type system in which this “commission” comes up with cuts and taxes and Congress then has to take it or leave it with no debate or amendment, probably by voice votes.
So we have a conservative-dominated House and a Senate with 15 Red-State Dems up for election whom they have to please. I don't really see that as a negative.
