Twice, I have had young male blk bear come in on me like a cat on a rabbit, front quarters down butt up in air, ears going like crazy; came in real slow step by step and I was able to hollar & wave the first one off, shot the second bear that did that to me a couple years after first experience. Same thing has happened to several of my friends that spend time in the woods. Has that happened to you? If it hasn't, you don't live in bear country. I came from Pa to Ak 20 years ago. Pa ain't bear country, no way, believe me.

How do you post Picts, I forget? I have a bunch on photobucket of blks at my bait station this spring, will post if somebody tells me how.

Eska, I believe everything you wrote about your encounters with black bears. I would love to see the pics.

But the Poconos is the best habitat on earth for black bears.

They grow them big here because there are no brown bears to compete with or get killed by, and because the the fruit and nut crop is so damn good to go along with the great forest cover.

Studies suggest that predatory black bears are more common in remote areas where they are less familiar with humans.
We both know PA isn’t remote.

Anyway I have yet to encounter a predatory black bear.

Photobucket has a little box below the picture with the HTML coding ready to copy and paste. Just scroll over your desired picture, and the list will appear. Just copy & paste in to your reply.
