That would be awesome in the Alders. Although we always brought in a spotter pilot in a Super Cub watching our path ahead of us. I carried a short HK-91 & 20 round mag. with 250 Gr. R.N. (.308 Win.)
Never had to use it in the Alders. I had a policy to never let the Bear get there in the first place. But my partner had a few get away and we hated every second of it. Talk about “TENSE” moments!

I like the way it breaks down. Fits real well into my backcountry rescue gear. (I never know where I might end up).
Several years ago the State Troopers flew me out to pronounce two hikers that had come out on the wrong side of a brown bear. The hikers had pepper sprayed the bear with no effect. From what I could observe, the bear grabbed them by the head and shook them to break their necks. Bad scene in heavy alders.
