They didn’t say “husbands”, they said “partners”.
I don’t think this is the first time for them.
But since they are grandmothers, I think people are thinking they used to be married to men.
There’s anecdotal evidence that many “lesbians” with children had those children the old fashioned way, before they decided that they were really lesbian. So it wouldn’t be a stretch to think these 2 had husbands at some point.
