In one report I read that he had “an eastern dialect” and in another I read that he was an “ethnic Norwegian”. What is an ethnic Norwegian?
Norway has many different dialects. Eastern Norwegian aka Oslo dialect is the most common around the capital and is close to our equivalent of standard American English.
Someone of real Norwegian stock, as opposed to an ethnic Middle Easterner whose family had emigrated to Norway. For instance, if this act had been perpetrated by an Arab Muzzie who happened to be a citizen of Norway, it would have done, technically, by a "Norwegian," but not by an *ethnic* Norwegian (the kind you would normally think of as a Norwegian).
