That’s one small step for Islam one giant leap for Jihad.
Hey! We can still go up with the Chinese or Russians.
So I guess it’s OK.

I did see one launch from my door in Orlando. Didn’t mean to, but there it was, taking off and making a big, vertical trail visible from miles away.

Staying up late to watch. I never got to see (in person) a shuttle launch. Darn.
However, if it’s still there, I can definitely recommend the “Shuttle Launch Experience” ride at Cape Canaveral / Kennedy Space Center. It’ll flap your cheeks; those high and low. :-) :-)

3200 people will lose their job when Atlantis touches down.
As historic as this morning may be, there is a certain sadness that will accompany the events.

The 2nd Assassination of JFK Premieres in Conjunction With the Atlantis Flight

[snip] In a speech given by President Barack Obama, in April of 2010 at Kennedy Space Center, his cavalier declaration that continued manned space exploration was unnecessary — a ‘we’ve been there, done that’ attitude — shocked and outraged those who’ve spent lifetimes working towards reaching for greatness in the stars... A thought-provoking film that sheds light on the alarming end of the US manned space program, I couldn’t help but wonder what the consequences of our current administration’s troubling lack of foresight regarding space exploration and its implication for future generations. It’s the end of an era, and very sad indeed.
But now, NASA can return to it’s true mission of helping Muslims feel better about their scientific achievements. /s
