Bachmann Releases Doctor's Note on Migraines as Pawlenty Says Candidates Must Be Able 'To Do All of the Job, All of the Time' ABC News' Matthew Jaffe (@matthewbjaffe) reports from Indianola, Iowa: When Republican presidential candidates Michele Bachmann and Tim Pawlenty descended on Iowa today, both faced questions about whether or not Bachmann's migraines would impede her from doing the job of president. Meanwhile, Bachmann issued a letter from the Attending Physician of the U.S. Congress arguing that Bachmann's migraines occur "infrequently and have known trigger factors of which you are aware and know how to avoid." The letter, from the Dr. Brian Monahan, the top doctor for Congress, is addressed to Bachmann and reads: "When you do have a migraine, you are able to control it well with as-needed sumatriptan and odanestron. It has not been necessary for you to take daily scheduled medications to manage thi condition." Monahan further clarifies that Bachmann has "not needed medical attention" from his office regarding her migraines "with the use of the above mentioned commonly used therapies."

What difference does that make?
My actual position is that anyone that uses this crap as an attack, and at the same time claim to be conservatives, should be up for the next house cleaning, so they can move on over to DU.
She has a headache and it apparently disqualifies her. Obama smokes tobacco and has an undocumented health history and yet not a peep.

bright flashes of light is the closest I come to a something that might trigger a migraine for me. but I’ve gotten them many times without that being the trigger.

“I was a supporter of Bachmann and even sent her money earlier. What gave me pause is the fact that she had 23 mentally troubled Foster kids in her house over the years. What are the odds that the media won’t bribe or otherwise influence one or more of them to tell false tales of who knows what. She could be innocent of child abuse, sexual misconduct etc and still be convicted in the media. Its too big a risk.”
Your comments were all a factor before this migraine business arose, yet you sent her money anyway. Frankly, you statement doesn’t make a lick of sense unless you got some sort of epiphany.
I think Bachmann would end up being a lightweight candidate for a variety of reasons, primarily her inability to deal with the flaming media, but the animus around here would be better directed toward the candidates that kowtow to the media and to the media itself or its extreme leftwing bias.
If Palin or Perry gets in, Bachmann is history irrespective of any other issues. Nevertheless, she has been a dedicated conservative on the issues AND if the aforementioned candidates don’t get in, she and Cain are all that’s left. Maybe those of us for other candidates need to cut her a little slack.
Yes I did I thought I read where it was for motivational speaking and book writing reasons and it may not sound like a reasonable thing that turns one off to a candidate but I am sorry it just does for me; but I feel that is what President’s do. This country is desperate; no offense to Palin truly but there isn’t time. Now she has said it is okay to help and not have A TITLE. That’s fine but she needs to crap or get off the pot.Logically and politically speaking her sitting on the sidelines when a quarterback is needed is not wise.Perry is taking all of the $$$$$$ and big party backing from the GOP. Please understand I am not trying to sound all Rovelike but it is reality. I would love a true grassroots people and money backed candidate that can pass the electorate muster but w/o the real big money she has not a chance (SEE CHRISTINE) she even had grassroots bucks but did not make it.
BTW: someone on FNC said tonight that they suspect Bachmann’s migraine story is from a GOP wannabe candidate or a current GOPer running for POTUS. I agree and would guess Romney first and any of the others second (with the exception of Cain-I don’t think he is that petty to play politics like Romney or possibly Palin would.) Perry would but he doesn’t need to.He was crowned in a news story with all the backing and buck$.
Also his cigarette addiction, which I do not for one minute believe he has quit entirely.

I agree and disagree. In the end Bachmann is a non contender.Perry has the independents and frankly the votes needed to win and take Obama.But I disagree that Palin beats Bachmann hands down. Perry/Christie/Rubio/West are who can beat Bachmann and Palin. Bachmann has a VP chance headaches or not-Palin does not. There was a short time Palin beat Bachmann in polls even as she sits on the sidelines.Not anymore. Palin needs to get her horse in the race her chances of being the quarterback or tailback in her not announcing worsen by the minute. IMO- She is very wise to this so this is why I think she is awaiting a VP or secofstate or senate bid.
What is next she could get cramps and need Midol or she has menopause so she can't make up her mind or lead? Or one of her grandkids had an ear ache and she was up all night so she is not qualified? I guess only men are allowed to have head aches and lie down not women?

I have not made up my mind who I will support just yet. But considering that Bachmann has raised dozens of children (5 natural, 23 fostered), has a full college degree, was a tax attorney, served as a state senator from 2000-2006 and has serve as a twice-elected Congressional representative for the people of Minnesota from 2006 - NOW, she sure seems fully able to do all that without her "condition" causing problems. She has not been declared incapable of performing her job by anyone.
I really hate to say this but, I can't help but think a lot of this is sexism on Republicans' part - the MSM, too, but ONLY Conservative women - because if a man had a migraine headache affliction that was under control by medication, would anyone be saying he too should be disqualified for the job? Did anybody really press the issue about Dick Cheney and his heart problems? Should he have been disqualified from being the Veep? For that matter, maybe anybody OVER a certain age should be disqualified seeing as there is proof that older men have a higher rate of certain cancers (prostate), have more heart disease, etc..
Or should women before menopause be disqualified since they COULD become pregnant while in office and - God forbid! - go into labor during a crisis? Or women who are going through menopause, with the hot flashes and irritability issues? Or should only postmenopausal women be electable - what about osteoporosis???? I really hope we get reasonable about this point. The Libs don't seem to care about the health of their favorites as long as they do their bidding. Shouldn't we at least concentrate on the REAL things that matter?

Obama and Clinton have sinus headaches and Obama said je jad sinus infections. This was in year one. He may be on the best of the best meds now and not suffer. But if a man POTUS gets a headache and lays down it is somehow okay but not for Bachmann?If a POTUS is awakened they are all groggy. An MD at Bachmann’s hip if needed can prescribe a reliever that does not knock her out. If a POTUS is knocked out for surgery or local anesthesia that is what the VP is for. If a POTUS is sleeping to rid a headache they can be awakened as I am sure no MD would give a POTUS anything strong enough to knock them out where they can’t wake up.
Do men POTUS’ report personal meds they take for not being able to sleep or a headache? Most men knock out for two days on benedryl and that is ok because they are men.Women can’t be sick, take benedryl’s (as this could incompacitate them) or take a nap? Men go through change of life and have hormonal inbalance that is just fine women do and they can’t work?

What would the media do if it was reported today that Generic republican A that is beating Obama has an ALIAS and may have dual citizenship and wrote a book about their communist parents and famous communist mentors and was a member of a Farrakhan loving racist church tied with radical muslims?
