To: Tolerance Sucks Rocks

Yeah, Mr. Neese, that’s good. Instead of taking the 70 mph Interstate that’s just as safe as when the speed limit was 65 mph, take the two-lane US 11 for 50 miles, get hung up in all the little one-stoplight towns along the way, take more time getting there, burn more gas, and have a higher chance of getting caught in an accident. Idiot.

I know those stretches of road. I-81 could stand to be widened to six lanes; speed isn’t so much the issue, as is a high amount of traffic, large trucks in particular.

You are correct. I've driven that stretch of I-81 many times. We joked that 81 is the speed limit AND the highway number sign. Nobody drives 70 unless the Virginia state police are out in force or a bunch of trucks going slower than the normal traffic flow in both lanes.

There is a huge Wal-Mart distribution center right by an interchange between Harrisonburg and Stanton with its own railyard.

There was talk that some of the truck traffic would diminish once the raillink was completed. I haven't noticed it happening. Have you?
