whens the last time the word ‘tycoon’ was used? The 1980s? Who the hell cares who some rich bastard in NYC votes for last time around. Their electoral votes are already long lost. I’d rather focus on what voters in Ohio, Florida, Virginia and Nevada are looking for in a candidate.
“Who the hell cares who some rich bastard in NYC votes for last time around. Their electoral votes are already long lost.”
This is a money issue. McCain was outspent $228m to $741m by Obama. More money means more airtime to hammer home your message to voters. McCain made a major mistake in deciding to go with public financing:
“Arizona Senator McCain, unlike Obama, accepted $84.1 million in public financing for the general election, a decision that barred him from raising money privately. Obama outspent him by a 4-to-1 margin from Sept. 1 through Nov. 24, FEC records show.”
This was against a seriously charismatic candidate. Whatever McCain’s virtues, the guy was a lousy strategist - to win against a good campaigner, you need to outspend him if possible, not spend 1/4 of what he does.
Exactly, a few rich voters in NY don't matter.
If the GOP needs NY to win the election, it's already lost.
If for some reason NY is leaning GOP it still doesn't matter because that means there is a GOP landslide in the rest of the country (think Reagan in 84).
