Here's a summary of the Gang Of Six proposal from Daniel Mitchell at the Cato Institute.
Some lowlights:
A tax overhaul which "must be estimated to provide $1 trillion in additional revenue to meet plan targets". That's $1 trillion in new taxes.
No spending caps on entitlements.
According to Jeff Sessions, the actual savings over a decade if the proposal is followed to the letter amounts to $1.2 trillion - and that's with $1 trillion in new taxes. This isn't a serious proposal to cut spending or deal with our debt crisis.

They can't stop the spending - it's not in the old fossils that make up this corrupt CONgress.

Got it. Thanks.

Sessions is a prize, a gem, and what he says goes to the bank.

And as usual the "spending cuts" are just an illusion but the taxes will be real:
In another politically risky move, the Gang of Six plan would achieve significant savings in healthcare programs, Conrad said. The specific spending cuts would be decided later by congressional committees.
From a Reuters article
Only a fool would believe that a future congressional committee would actually cut any healthcare program.
