As an Illinoisan, I’d love to have concealed carry here, but I am very uncomfortable with setting the precedent that the federal government has the power to regulate this. Once the Dems get the House again, we’ll see a bill banning carry nationwide.
Although Illinois has no right to carry, for all intents and purposes, it’s the same thing here in California with our “may issue” law coupled with a bunch of lawless weasels for sheriff’s and chiefs of police. What is needed is for those worthless pricks in black robes collectively knows as the US Supreme Court to quit nibbling around the edges of the Second Amendment’s clear intent, and make a ruling that the 2A is what it says it is and mandate that all states allow their citizens to carry a gun if they so choose openly or concealed as is their choice. We see daily the abuse of our constitutional gun rights by LEOs who themselves abuse the right they have to carry a gun. As it stands today, I am far more fearful of being shot by a cop than I am by a citizen.
