I'm thinking now of this Leiby Kletzky case in New York, and wondering if Levi Aron could have pursued the same line of defense, if only he'd been smart enough to shut up when the cops came to his door. After all, what would the prosecution have to show? Just some surveillance tapes showing Leiby talking to him, and getting into his car, and some blood and body parts in his house. Did anyone see him murder the kid? He was the last person to be seen with Leiby; well, Casey Anthony was the last person to be seen with her child. Ah, but the body parts in the refrigerator and the suitcase! Well, he could have come home after a hard day's work and found that someone had planted the body in his house, whereupon he got panicky, thinking that he'd be falsely accused, and so he decided to dispose of the body. Yeah, that's the ticket! And you know, you weren't there at the time, so how do you know it wasn't just that way? Doubt! There's your doubt, and it's not unreasonable to have doubts, so therefore it's reasonable doubt! God, how wonderful to be an intellectual!
