While your view on this does not seem to be popular on FR, I am in complete agreement.
Well, Don. You quit.
Talk is cheap, Donald.
Why? He has a right to free speech under the First Amendment just as any other American.
Furthermore, his comment will carry across the media and more likely be heard by McConnell, Boehner and Cantor than your rant will.
See my tagline.
I wrote to Speaker Boehner today... never have before. Here it is:
Speaker Boehner,
I appreciate your efforts to stand up to the spending addicted members of the Congress and White House.
I would like to encourage you to not be afraid to take a “hard-line” stance on changing this culture of ever-increasing Government, as it is a huge threat to our country.
Many times in the past I have been dismayed to see the GOP make deals with the other side which never seem to do anything more than just slow this process towards destruction.
We need to STOP this long and persistent trend and turn it around, to get back to the founding principles of our wonderful and exceptional country. If you and rest of the leadership, especially Sen McConnell, stand firm and explain your reasons for it (which I believe you are trying to do), the people will have your back.
Despite the lies and spin in the media about what your intentions are, there are many of us which see through these tactics and know that the current direction is beyond unsustainable. I think people understand that this may be difficult, but the alternatives are much more dire, in my opinion.
You are taking on a task which many Congresses have passed on, and you should refuse to take any blame the media and liberal democrats may try to put on you and your fellows in this effort. Please stand up for us. A lot of us “get it”, and can see the truth. I do what I can to convince the people I know who are living in the fantasy world of entertainment and try to avoid discussing political subjects... some are waking up, whom I never would have thought I could persuade. The current administration has been so bad, that the bankruptcy of this nation is becoming painfully apparent. That is good because it gives us a chance to make the important points. We need you to stand firm on the founding principles of this great nation. Please continue to help us. I am an independent in the Commonwealth of Massachussetts, and have felt quite alone for many years. I will promote and vote only for the people who share the ideals of the founders. The bankrupt ideas of Marx, Lenin, Trotsky, Mao and the rest have NO place in our Republic!
Remember, Obama and company are the ones who are bluffing. Call their bluff! A couple days of “shutdown” will do more for our side, if we refuse to take the blame, than capitulation will ever do.
Thanks for listening.

>>this party needs 400 more people like Allen West...
They’re being told to stand on principle, which is foreign to most people in DC (except the folks in the Pentagon). They are fighting not only the opposition party, but almost the entire news media. Most people can’t even understand the real problem (i.e. they believe that if we don’t raise the debt ceiling, there won’t be ANY money left in the government).
They need to negotiate like people that don’t care about re-election. Damn the torpedoes. Full speed ahead! Kick ass and take initials, because we ain’t got time to get names! Most of all, humiliate that little marxist punk that Soros put in our White House. I want Obama rattling ball bearings in his hand and talking about strawberries by the time they’re done with him.
“Trumps a loudmouthed con-man whos lost more other peoples money than anyone I know will ever make. “
THAT is a guy who can understand how to negotiate with Obama!
Wimps, all of them. Wimps or in on the rapid destruction of our country.
:’)
Good move, Bluesmover.
Generalized comments that Republicans are terrible negotiators and that Paul Ryan wants to destroy Medicare are stupid and worse than useless.
What is going on now regarding the debt ceiling are not “negotiations” in any sense of the word. They are just the Democrats lying and political posturing. Nothing else.
There are many Republicans recently who have been principled and courageous. Governor Brewer in Arizona was courageous in signing the immigration bill and refusing to back down. Governor Walker in Wisconsin stood up to unions and rescued his state from bankruptcy. Governors Daniel in Indiana and Kasich in Ohio have taken principled stands. Chris Christie in New Jersey took over a state on the verge of insolvency and despite being sabotaged at every step by the Democrats he has courageously made improvements. The Republican legislature in Minnesota recently forced the confrontational Democrat governor to back down. Each of these Republicans were more principled and courageous than Trump has been in his entire life.
I don't hear Trump mentioning this or the abuse these Republicans have endured.
And if you want to see a really terrible negotiation look at Trump's divorce settlement with Ivana. She took him to the cleaners. If you want to unprincipled cowardice look at Trump's dealing with the Chicago machine where Trump the developer is trying to build a skyscraper.
The current situation in Washington is a charade by the Democrats and the MSM to make the Republicans look weak and ineffective and make Obama seem strong. Trump is just allowing himself to be used as part of the idiot chorus.
There is no negotiating going on right now, just lies and posturing by the Democrats.
If Trump has any specific recommendations he should make them but these general statements are stupid and just create more confusion.
If he were running as a Republican, he would be a little nervous too.
Nobody enjoys being slandered and smeared and put on the defensive by the media day in and day out.
I seem to recall a purchase of Trump Taj Majal bonds some 20+ years ago.
That did not turn out well for me at all.
You and I both, brother.
The GOP has always been horrible, stupid negotiators. Their idea of “compromise” is always to give the Democrats only half of what they want.
That’s utterly horrible negotiation and deal-making skills. OK, give them half of what they want... then demand half of what you want over in some other area.
eg, want to pass some new silly law? OK. And you give us.... full gun rights for Washington DC.
Want to pass a tax bill? OK, then you have to cut this department’s idiot programs to zero over here.
Want to abscond with more private land for some new idiotic national monument or park? OK, then the BLM has to cut loose twice as many acres for sale over there.
And so on.
The GOP has rarely, if ever, done this. They’re utterly moronic in their “we’ll give them only half what they want.” The Democrats learned how to get around that decades ago - they now ask for the moon, and they’re happy to get half a moon... because they know they can get the other half in the next session of Congress.
” eg, want to pass some new silly law? OK. And you give us.... full gun rights for Washington DC.

EZ breeze. If these incompetent boobs had to negotiate contracts like I have for 30 years, they would be living in a cardboard box ;-)
Great post!
I know Van Morrison, but who’s Van Susteren? Does he sing?
