You’re wasting your breath, and we never hear from the anti-gold-bugs what vehicle they suggest for their spare savings.

Nothing wrong with that at all, but not very transportable in a crisis, nor will everyone be interested in bartering for your items (you might find yourself selling them for gold or silver, then using that to buy your food or pay the rent).

Tangibles until you have enough, then precious metals if you have more to save.

The best advice is not to put all your eggs in one basket, and limiting yourself to three barter items and neglecting either form of history’s “money” seems awfully risky.
