SS brings in more money than it pays out. The only problem is that they raid the SS funds to pay for other things not related to Social Security. These people are thieves.

This is very revealing, because they are admitting that there is no money set aside in the Social Security trust fund to pay benefits.

If it were really a separate fund, then there would be no question about benefits being paid.

And we could also talk about the Democrats using the politics of fear in these negotiations. If Social Security were really a completely separate fund, then the payments would not be threatened by problems with raising the debt ceiling.

If they don’t get this resolved, then priorities will have to be set as far as who gets paid. We’re all still paying our taxes every payday, so the money still is flowing into the treasury. They can pay the majority of government expenses whether the debt ceiling gets raised or not.

Obama and Harry Reid could make sure that senior citizens get their Social Security checks regardless of what happens, if they chose to do so.
