Why do all these politicians keep lying to us? Not raising the debt ceiling does not mean default. There is plenty of money to service the debt, veterans, social security, etc. The problem is that what is left would have to be prioritized and some of their precious programs would have to go by the wayside.

Be honest, if we do what you say the rest of the Federal Government will have to be cut by 90%.

Well if none of them want that then they should just abolish the ceiling period. They all want to raise it anyway. It is raised every time we hit it so if a rule is NOT a rule then get rid of it. The House is in control of the purse, let em fight it out there, send it to the Senate, and then the Prez just like everything else.
This dance between who wants to spend less but raise it anyway is ridiculous.
