I don’t think he can refuse to make the interest payments, but he DOES get to decide where else to make cuts if the Repubs refuse to raise the debt ceiling. And he sent threatening verbal signals to them about this in that abominable presser that he’ll cut off payments for vital services, military, SS, etc., if they buck him. Then the “great unwashed” masses will be up in arms and view Republicans as evil villains (Libs/MSM will make sure of it).
That’s what we’re up against here. And since he has absolutely NO conscience or concern for the American people - only his own political well-being - it’s a win-win for him.
I just wonder when, if ever, the Repubs will get the cojones to graphically explain this truth to the public before Aug. 2. Same with the Ryan plan vs. the “throwing Grandma off a cliff” ads. They need to loudly (and repeatedly) tell everyone about the $500 billion Medicare cuts in Obamacare and how/why we’ll have rationed care and denial of many services for seniors. Why doesn’t Ryan (in particular) or any of the good conservative legislators shout this from the rooftops? Most people don’t follow politics as we do here, and all they see is TV (and ads).
The Minnesota debacle reviewed here on FR with the Minn. radical left wing Governor Mark Dayton now gutting the budget in favor of the far left is a good facsimile of what we will be up against soon if our guys truly have the guts to not sign on to the debt ceiling and if zero even stops borrowing as he is tasked to do by law.
