Isn’t raising the debt ceiling the same as getting a new credit card, transferring the balance of the old account and then paying [owing - not necessarily paying] even more in interest payments?
Even Harvard economists should know that this is a spiral that ends in catastrophe.
I wish that everyone speaking about budget numbers would avoid the word “trillion.” It reduces what the ear and brain hear to single digit, aka non-scary, numbers.
If they said the deficit is fifteen hundred billion, or one thousand five hundred billion, and our interest payments are four hundred billion dollars, maybe a few more people would see some reality of the problem.
One point five trillion just does not register in most brains.
Wants to bring down some rates to make them revenue neutral and close some loopholes. Won't happen by Aug 2.
Thinks ethanol subsidies really will be phased out.
Asked about Clinton telling Obama not to blink. Cornyn says a "mini deal" is a bad idea but it might be necessary and it can be 're-litigated before the election.'
Asked about Obama and Reid demagoguing taxes. Said reform won't happen by Aug 2. Said Nov 10 was about cutting spending, not raising taxes. Schmuck Schumer accusing Republicans of undermining the economy for 2012 advantage. Says that rhetoric doesn't help, says Obama's doing a fine job undermining the economy already.
Asked about Schumer and ignoring the debt ceiling. Says it's "crazy talk." Says Obama's proposal must be upfront, not behind close doors so the American people can see what's coming and not be surprised after the fact.
Asked about Libya. Cornyn'll vote against some resolution coming up and offer his own. Thinks Libya goals need to be defined.
GMTA?
He politely called Shmuck a liar.
Graham Lieberman up, time to change the channel.
blah blah blah.
She lofts a softball at Sen. John Cornyn.
How will the GOP rebut the PR from Reid, etc?
He says they will just get along.
She focuses on the struggle of the average American.
Another softball: What about Obama having authority
to just bypass the debt ceiling?
He says they will just get along and wants to see
the DNC proposal.
What are the weird banners the Fox has placed behind Lindsey and Joe? Lindsey’s looked like a Palestinian flag. Joe’s is black and white.
LOLO, perfect, AB!
ABC is doing a commentary on the Constitution. “We the People” have no idea what point that segment was about. No matter, we’re doing a round table discussion on the “Constitution Debated”.
George Will - It’s become important right now because of obama. Obama has claimed power to do things that is an unprecedented expansion of power. In the act of creating our federal gov’t, the founders sought to limit it. LOL, calls Dyson’s claim that the Const. is a living/breathing document - oxymoronic. Rule by majority is dangerous.
Michael Eric Dyson - Brings up slavery, women, people of color, people at the edges. The Constitution is a living breathing document, otherwise we would have never overturned slavery, etc. Defends his statement about the Constitution being a living/breathing document saying he was referring to the “interpretation” of the Constitution. (okay, like he said something different). cons
- Jill Lepore - ??? Postal service ??? I have no idea what point(s) she tried to make.
Richard Stingall - Every president has expanded executive/federal power; obama’s expansion is nothing unusual. The original founders limited powers because they didn’t want kings. Christianed asks if it was “divinely inspired.” Richard - says the Consittion is “areligious”
That kind of radical thinking could force ethanol to become actually profitable, not "get close enough to break-even that the government subsidy will make us a profit" profitable. Imagine what this country would be like if private sector people actually tried to make a profit, and people all across the country thought that making a profit was a good and noble thing. It might cause a fundamental transformation of America.

Great graphics,if we don’t help FR who do we help?
George Will on ABC asks, Does Congress have the power to mandate that obese people sign up for Weight Watchers program? Does Congress have the power to mandate anything they want?
Dyson - we don’t know.
Stingall - the Supreme Court would have to decide this.
Give it up George - they just exposed themselves with their idiotic answers.
“Cornyn says Obama is trying to run out the clock, demand something get passed last minute so no one can review it.”
Well duh. This is why the Republicans need to bring this to a boil ASAP. For example propose an obamcare style televised roundtable with Barry and the useless senate dims. The more Barry refuses to produce a scorable budget proposal or meet with Republicans on their terms the more unserious and partisan he looks.
We are just trying to get govt. to keep up with the debt by making timely interest payments and not make it any worse by borrowing even more money that we don't have and has to be printed!!
Lieberman asked about Libya. Wants Obama to make the case on why it's good or our security (Lieberman says it is) says Libya IS about regime change despite what Obama claims. He's talking about how wonderful things will be when Gaddafi is gone. Grahamnesty pipes up (she didn't get to ask her question) saying we need to cut the head of the snake off in Libyadid he call for Gaddafi's assassination?
Up next the panel talks about campaign fundraising reports.
Thanks for thread AB. Happy Independence Day!
I got an e mail last week, don’t have the link handy but I can probably get, it that buried in Obamacare is the fact that those of us now on Medicare get our current prices double by 2014!
There is a 4th of July parade in DC. My granddaughter and her band are marching in it. They are the only band from Texas. They could not get permission to tour the White House. I wonder why?????
Dear FOXNEWS:
Thank you for liberating your viewers from the thinly-veiled-socialist host Chris Wallace. Hopefully this is a permanent decision to replace an incompetent employee.
Today's show was improved 500% simply by his absence.
Now if you could just end the practice of overexposing "moderate" media-whores such as RINOs McCain, Graham and Romney and RAT Lieberman.
Signed,
The TEA Party Rednecks
ABC, Christiane asks her panel who their favorite founding father is.
Stengel - Madison
Will - James Madison
Lepore - I think she referred to a woman????
Dyson - Jefferson.....brings up Jefferson’s relationship with Sally Hemings (the black slave that Jefferson supposedly fathered children with). WOW, Dyson never takes off his race-colored glasses.
