As a Texan, I am seriously disappointed that Perry didn’t force the Sanctuary City issue, as this may have been our only chance. He’s not a good choice for Freepers

Tennessee isn’t pulling his way. Palin is still the odds on favorite here.

Hes not a good choice for FreepersThe TX Legislature meets for 140 days every 2 years. Perry called them back into a special session to address "Sanctuary Cities. The Senate did a "take it or leave it bill" and left it on the House's desk and adjourned. The House leadership was pissed at the Senate's posture and they laughed at the representative pushing it in the House and adjourned too. What do you propose Perry was supposed to do then?

I don’t think he could “force” that issue, and I don’t believe it is dead yet.
And I am not sure that there can be “sanctuary cities in Texas. It boils down to enforcing State law or not?

Rick Perry's biggest donor along with another one of Rick Perry's major donors were behind the move to derail the sanctuary city legislation, so don't expect Rick Perry to push the issue any more - he was off shaking hands in California while this was happening. He is not going to do anything to piss off his donors. As another FReeper said, once he's bought, he stays bought.
Perry comes out of this saying that he tried and his donors (who benefit from the illegals) are going to sleep easy. The sanctuary city legislation is dead, and you are right, this is the last chance.
In hindsight, we should have seen this coming - it didn't make any sense for Perry to be pushing this legislation if it had a chance to pass, and Perry's biggest donors are also some of the biggest donors for Straus and Dewhurst. If you remember, it was Dewhurst and Straus who was doing the derailing during the regular session. This time the donors handled it themselves, allowing Perry and Dewhurst to keep their hands clean.
